Welcome to My First Blog Post!Ahh, I’m so excited to be writing this — and even more excited that you are here reading it.I’m Tejal Soni-Hayer, or as my friends call me, Tej. I’m the co-owner of Love Your Swagger, a brand built around confidence, comfort, and consciousness. For my very first blog post, I wanted to share a little bit about who we are, what we believe in, and why we’ve chosen to create clothing that’s as kind to the planet as it is to the people who wear it.Why Organic Cotton? All of our clothes are made from GOTS-certified organic cotton. Cotton has been grown in India since around 5000 BCE, and for good reason. It’s one of nature’s most versatile materials — soft, durable, breathable, and wonderfully absorbent (which means it takes dye beautifully). But beyond comfort, cotton has a deep cultural and historical connection to India. It has clothed generations and supported livelihoods for thousands of years. However, traditional cotton farming has also faced challenges. One of the biggest is its water consumption. Conventional cotton often requires large-scale irrigation, draining natural resources and putting pressure on local ecosystems. To address that, our cotton is grown in northern India, where seasonal monsoon rains naturally fill reservoirs. These reservoirs provide the water needed for the crops — meaning we don’t rely on artificial irrigation. This small but significant choice allows us to respect the land’s natural rhythm while reducing our environmental footprint.Grown Naturally, the Circular WayOur commitment doesn’t stop at where or how the cotton is grown — it extends to how it’s cared for throughout its life cycle. Our organic cotton is grown without the use of harmful pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. Instead, our farmers rely on natural fertilizers such as compost and cow manure.Once the cotton is harvested, the seeds are separated from the fibre. Instead of being discarded, those seeds are pressed into animal feed, which supports local farming communities and creates more natural fertilizer in return. It’s a simple yet elegant system — a circle within our circular supply chain — that honours traditional farming wisdom while promoting sustainability at every step. Our Closed-Loop Water SystemAnother cornerstone of our process is our closed-loop water recycling system. The water used in dyeing our clothes never ends up in rivers or local waterways. Instead, it’s filtered and purified through osmosis, a process that draws water through incredibly fine layers — think of it like passing it through natural sand filters again and again. After filtering, we add a small amount of salt, which binds to the dye particles. Those dye remnants are then collected and repurposed for road markings — yes, the bright paint you see on the streets! The water that’s left behind is so clean it’s actually drinkable. We’re proud of that — because it shows that sustainable fashion doesn’t have to mean compromise; it can mean innovation and respect for the environment at the same time.Plastic-Free, AlwaysNow, circularity is important — but it’s not the full story. A circular system built around plastic is still, well, plastic. (There’s already a massive circular one floating in the ocean — the Great Pacific Garbage Patch — and we’re definitely not adding to that!)That’s why we’ve made sure every single part of our product is plastic-free and plant-based. From the organic cotton grown in the fields to the thread, buttons, and even the packaging that arrives at your door — everything is thoughtfully sourced from natural materials. It’s our way of ensuring that sustainability doesn’t end at the factory gate but continues right up to your wardrobe. Why We Chose This PathSo there it is — a little insight into why we’ve chosen to go down the organic and natural route. Love Your Swagger was born from the idea that confidence and conscience can go hand in hand. When you wear something that’s been made with care, it changes how you feel. You’re not just wearing a piece of clothing; you’re wearing a story — one of connection, craftsmanship, and care for our planet. This is just the beginning. I can’t wait to share more about our journey, our people, and the small details that make a big difference. Thank you for being here and for believing, like we do, that loving your style and loving the Earth should always go together.Love AwaysTej Soni-Hayer
